International Business Machines champions open innovation in corporate machine learning

At the VentureBeat conference, International Business Machines' David Cox showcased a convincing case for open innovation in business generative AI. Cox, VP of machine learning frameworks and leader at the collaborative research center, underscored the importance of openness in tech progress, especially in the modern artificial intelligence ecosystem.
The IBM executive emphasized the multifaceted essence of accessibility in machine learning, contesting the binary view of the concept. He pointed out the growing community of open models from various sources, including tech giants, universities, and governments.
Nonetheless, he articulated worries about the nature of transparency in many Large Language Models, noting that a number of them deliver scarcely more than a collection of data points lacking transparency in their production methods.
